Parents should call our 24 hour absence line at 742-5360 option#1 when their child will not be attending school or will be arriving late. Please follow the directions given before leaving your message. Parents who do not call in by 10 a.m. will receive a call and an email by A.S.D.’s automated absence system. Parents have three days to excuse an absence.
Attendance is taken twice daily:
- Morning Attendance - collected at 9:00 a.m.
- Students are considered absent in the morning if they arrive after 10:00 a.m.
- Afternoon Attendance - collected @ 12:15 p.m.
- Students are considered absent in the afternoon if they arrive after 1:15 p.m.
A.S.D. requires parents to fill out a 2017-18 Pre-Arranged Absence Form at least one week in advance of taking your child out of school for a pre-planned absence. Principal Packer will review each request and a copy will be returned to you via email.
For additional information about ASD’s attendance policy please visit ASD’s website.
If you need to pick your child up before 3:30 p.m., please email your child’s teacher (or send a note) with the approximate time your child will be leaving. This gives teachers time to prepare for your child’s early departure. Parents must come to the office to sign their child out of school. The office staff will locate your child and call them to the office to go home.
School begins at 9:00 a.m. Tardiness disrupts instruction for the late student and the rest of the class. Students who are not in their classroom ready to learn at 9 a.m. are considered tardy, per A.S.D.'s Elementary School Student Handbook.
